New classroom block and sympathetic alterations to existing Georgian school building

Free standing block to create two new classrooms in a sympathetic style to the existing Georgian period main school building.

The project included alterations to the listed building to form a link to the new block. Features of the project were a high brick front elevation wall (to reflect the original garden wall) and a glazed covered verandah/walkway. Alterations to main building included infill of a recessed area with a glazed lantern roof, to create a reading area.

The new classroom block was of conventional load bearing masonry construction, with large feature beams over the classrooms.

Project Architects were Benjamin Beauchamp of Wedmore and the project value was £350,000.
