East Huntspill Village Hall

Construction of new village hall

East Huntspill lies on the Somerset Levels and as a result the site is underlain by poor ground conditions, including soft clays and peat.

A reinforced concrete raft foundation solution was adopted with lightweight polystyrene fill used below the floor slab to reduce the overall increase in over burden pressure and minimise potential settlement.

The hall is of steel framed construction and comprises a central hall area with lean-to side section housing a kitchen, toilets, meeting rooms and storage area.

Project Architects were HSB Architecture (now LED Architects) of Highbridge.

The project value was £350,000.
